Bert Haines, long-time Harvard 150 pound crew coach who retired last year, suffered a heart attack Tuesday. He was taken to the Mount Auburn Hospital Thursday night.
At the hospital Haines was placed on the danger list and his condition was described as serious. He is suffering from a "cardiac condition."
At the present time Haines can receive no visitors.
Haines, who coached Harvard crews for over 30 years, retired last July, and has been replaced by Ted Reynolds, at least for the fall season. Haines remained at his own house from Tuesday until Thursday, when he was removed to the hospital for treatment.
