To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
I feel that there is a need to clear up a few facts about the idea of a Freshman Orientation "affair." The CRIMSON erroneously stated that a recommendation for such an affair came from the Student Council. I presented my plan, previously backed by the Crimson Key Society, to the Council to obtain student opinion. After the presentation of my plan, the Council took a straw vote and decided that there was a need to expand the Freshman Orientation week, which the Key is currently sponsoring. But they voted down my idea of replacing the Freshman Smoker and having this instead. Perhaps in place of the Smoker, the Freshman Jubilee could be moved up into the slack period in February and thus stop the competition for the few good weekends in the spring. William Magie '53
