Ivy Statistics Place Clasby, Culver Among League Stars

The Crimson's Dick Clasby and John Culver placed high in individual statistics, according to Ivy League figures released yesterday.

Yale's Jerry Jones led the ground gainers with a total of 318 yards in four games. Clasby and Culver followed with 316 and 242 yards respectively, picked up in only three games.

Clasby was also second in punting in the League with a 36.6 yard average on 15 kicks. Larry Ellis of Dartmouth was top man with a 38 yard average.

Yale's big end, Ed Woodsum, led the scorer with six touchdown, picked up in four games, while Culver was second with five and Clasby third with three scores.

Clasby was third in individual offense behind Columbia's Mitch Price and the Eli's Ed Molloy. Price was far ahead in this category on the strength of 560 yards picked up on passing and 115 gained on the ground. Molloy totalled 568 yards, while Clasby had 431 total yards.

The Crimson eleven was third in the League in team offense with a 331.7 yard average per game. In defense, the Crimson placed second behind Pennsylvania by allowing its opponents an average of only 217.3 yards per game.

Pennsylvania and Yale are presently leading the League standings with two wins each. Princeton and Columbia follow, with the remaining four teams still seeking their first Ivy League win.

Price's large lead in individual statistics is due largely to his brilliant performance against Yale last Saturday in which he broke an all-time Columbia record, passing for 332 yards in a losing cause. His performance brought his totals for three games to 33 completitions in 54 attempts for a 61.1 completion average.

According to a late Associated Press report last night the football team has gained 806 of its 995 total yardage, compile in its first three games, by rushing.
