By placing third in the U.S. Olympic Ice Skating Team finals, sophomore Dudley Richards lost his chance to compete in the 1952 Olympic games to be held in Oslo, Norway, next month. Richards finished behind James Grogan of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Hayes Alan Jenkins of Northwestern. The American Olympic skating team includes two skaters in the men's singles division. Dick Button, 1948 Olympic Figure Skating Champion, is automatically on the team.

Button, who has said that he has "absolutely no intention of turning pro," left by air on Thursday for Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, where he will train for the Olympics.
