The appointment of Charles A. Coolidge '17, member of the Corporation, as Assistant Secretary of Defense was approved by the Senate yesterday. He had been nominated for the post by President Truman early last November.
Coolidge succeeds Daniel K. Edwards, who resigned to become U.S. vice-deputy on the North Atlantic Defense Council. The new Assistant Secretary was an All-American end and president of the Student Council while in the College. He is a member of the Boston law firm of Ropes, Gray, Best, Coolidge, and Rugg.
