Undergraduate backers of the candidacy of Senator Estes Kefauver (D-Tenn.) for President expressed willingness yesterday to fall in behind the University Kefauver for President Club formed earlier in the week at the Law School.
Co-chairmen Thaddeus S. Rudzik 2L and John J. Serton, Jr. 2L are recruiting help wherever they can get it and plan to hold an organizational meeting during the first week of the new term. The group, the first north of the Mason-Dixon Line, intends eventually to extend its drive throughout Greater Boston.
The club leaders are going ahead with these preliminary plans despite the fact that the Tennessee senator has not as yet definitely stated that he will run. When he visited Cambridge during the Christmas vacation, Kefauver said that he would not make a final announcement before February.
The National Kefauver for President Committee has already offered assistance and advice to the University group.
