Barry Wood Assumes Brigham Hospital Job

Dr. William Barry Wood '32, Phi Beta Kappa, All-American football star, and Student Council president while in the College, came back to Boston today to assume the role of physician-in-chief protem of Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. He replaces Dr. George W. Thorn, Hersey Professor of Medicine, a former instructor of his at Johns Hopllins University Medical School.

Dr. Wood has been a teaching and research professor at Washington University Medical School in St. Louis since 1942. He has specialized in the study of the lungs and pneumonia, serving as a member of the Pneumonia Commission during the war.
