The biennial election of a city manager by the Cambridge City Council came before the council's meeting yesterday but was tabled until next week. Present City Manager John P. Atkinson will remain temporarily in office until next Monday.
It is expected that he will be re-elected to his post then by a majority of the five Cambridge Civic Association councilors against the four independent council members. Councilor Edward A. Crane '35, former mayor of Cambridge, last night denied earlier rumors that Atkinson would retire this year.
