Yesterday's opposition was no stronger than that of the pre-Christmas days, as Myles Huntington's freshman hockey team loafed through an easy 12 to 2 victory against Rindge Tech at the Arens.
After the Yardlings had built up a 7 to 2 lead in the first quarter, Huntington must have told his boys to take it easy. Throughout the remaining two periods his boys skated, passed, and foisted with a becoming facility, but they did not push the attack.
Right wing Needle Bliss and center Doug Manchester, both of the first line, shared the high scoring credits with three apiece. Captain Bob Marsolais, second line center, gave a beautiful exhibition of his skating prowess, scoring twice on long, fast shots.
Defensively, the Yardlings were able to stop most of the Rindge attacks, although this was in part due to the sloppy passing of the opposition. The team checked back every time and goalie Bob Hathaway had little trouble, stopping 13 of the Rindge shots.
Huntington's sextet now has a 5 to 0 record.
