Johnny Lee, captain-elect of this year's wrestling team, will be unable to wrestle, at least for the first term, because of a recent operation on an old knee injury suffered last season.
Lee said yesterday that he first injured his right knee in practice last February and then aggravated the condition in the Yale meet. Two cartilages were removed from the knee upon his return from a wrestling tour through Japan on a five-man U.S. team during the summer.
After the winter season, Lee nursed the Knee along last spring to win the National A.A.U. 121-pound class. He won three of his four matches in Japan.
