Carroll Lowenstein may not be deferred by his draft board, and it is possible that the Harvard football captain will be inducted before the end of the current season, Lloyd Jordan told a football writers' luncheon yesterday.
Although the announcement caused a stir, it has been learned that Lowenstein's actual position is similar to that of many other college students: he has received his year of automatic student deferment, and his future eligibility for the draft is up to the discretion of his local board.
