Lewis, Former Medical School Faculty Member, Dies at Home

Dr. Frederic T. Lewis '97, retired Harvard Medical School professor and authority on microscopic anatomy, died Sunday at his home.

A member of the Medical School teaching staff for nearly 50 years, he taught some of the nation's most famous doctors. He joined the Harvard faculty in 1902 and was James Stillman Professor of Comparative Anatomy from 1931 until he retired in 1941.

Lewis edited a widely used textbook of histology and embryology and was a former editor of the American Naturalist.
