John C. Pittenger '51, of Nottingham, Pa., and Dunster House, has won the Frank Knox Memorial Fellowship for a year's study in any nation of the British Commonwealth, Dean Bender announced today.
The fellowship was established by the widow of the wartime Secretary of the Navy.
During his freshman year, Pittenger won the highest freshman award, the Edwards Whitaker Prize. A Phi Beta Kappa member, he has won scholarships throughout his four years here.
Pittenger, a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, is majoring in history here. He is a member of the Crimson Key Society, the Harvard World Federalists, and the Glee Club, and was vice-president of Phillips Brooks House this year.
