Lacrosse Team Tramples Tech, 13-2; Hudner Stars

By Bayley F. Mason

The varsity lacrosse team unleashed some scattered bursts of power on a weak M.I.T. squad yesterday, trouncing the Beavers, 13 to 2, on Tech's Briggs Field. The rout marked the Crimson's eighth win in ten starts and the varsity's last breather before taking on the Big Three of New England lacrosse, Williams, Dartmouth, and Yale.

Because Coach Bruce Munro's ten was never threatened, he used a fourth midfield and numerous reserves throughout the game, a move which kept the score almost respectable. Even though Munro was not turning on maximum pressure, the Crimson still played better lacrosse than it did at Springfield last Saturday.

One possibly distressing feature of the game was that the attack scored 11 of the 13 goals and made five of the eight assists. Captain Rick Hudner, who went most of the route, paced the attack with four goals and one assist. Most of his goals came on his tricky specialty shot which bounces just inside the far pipe.

The value of having depth on the attack was evident yesterday when Bill Plissner, alternate for Moe Baldwin, compensated for the latters off day by scoring two goals and an assist.

First period: Yost (unassisted), 6:24; Yost (Baldwin), 7:57; Hudner (Graham), 8:53.

Second period: Meuser (M.I.T.) (Unassisted), 1:18; Kelly (unassisted), 1:53; Hudner (Plissner), 3:25; Plissner (Waring), 5:31; Hudner (unassisted), 6:35; Kelly (Plissner), 14:35.

Third period: Hudner (Waring), 0:48; Huebsch (Hudner), 4:36; Plissner (unassisted), 5:00.

Fourth period: Kelly (Grant), 6:20; Murray (M.I.T.) (unassisted), 7:14; Wood (unassisted), 10:27.
