The freshman golf team lost its first match of the season at Andover yesterday, 5 to 4. The Yardlings split even with the Blue in six individual matches, but lost two of their best-of-four-balls pairings.

Dave Shapiro and Tom Monfried, playing in fifth and sixth spots respectively, together made three points for the freshmen. Monfried edged his opponent on the last hole, 2 up, while Shapiro was trimming his man, 4 and 3. The Shapiro-Monfried team won its foursome match, 3 and 1. Hadden Tomes in the number two position scored the other freshman victory.
