Forty Students Attend Dedication Of First Chapel in Eliot House

Forty students shewed up for the dedication of the Eliot House Chapel last night at 11 p.m. Francis Huntington '53, of Winthrop House, conducted the service, which included a general confessional, Bible reading, and the Apostle's Creed.

The Chapel is siumpy furnished with seven wall candelabra, four wooden benches, and floor matting. James P. Morton '51 designed the interior decoration, which was financed by students representing all seven Houses.

According to present plans, the Chapel will always be open to anyone who wishes to use it. The students announced that because of the large attendance the first night, their goal was similar chapel in every House. This is the first chapel service of its kind in the history of the University.

Last night's service was non-denominational but a spokesman for the financial backers of the chapel said that the service might change if students requested.
