Baseball Team to Play Penn Today, Lions Tomorrow

The varsity baseball team that played errorless ball to swamp M.I.T. Wednesday will run into considerably stronger opposition this weekend when it meets league rivals Pennsylvania today at 3:45 p.m. and Columbia tomorrow at 3 p.m., both on Soldiers Field.

Dolph Samborski's freshmen wind up their season tomorrow playing Yale at 3 p.m. on the freshman diamond.

Both Penn and Columbia have eight-and-seven season records, while Harvard has split even in its eight contests to date. The Lions, who have topped Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball League rivals Princeton, Army, Yale, and Cornell, are playing at Dartmouth today.

Penn Pitching Apathy

Stuffy McInnis will probably start John Donelan against the Quakers this afternoon and either Bob Ward or Rufe Webb tomorrow. Penn's pitching has been extremely spotty all season, and today's starter, Bob Brooks, has been unable, in spite of a two-and-one record, to finish a game this spring.

But the Quakers have made up for a lack of mound strength by effective power hitting. Leadoff batter Bill Deuber, catcher Jerry Cook, Captain Paul Fitzpatrick, and right fielder Noyes Yale have been particularly dangerous at the plate.

Walt Greeley will probably replace Ralph Robinson in right field for the Crimson tomorrow, when the Lions will start either Don Mohr or Larry Contillo, both left-handers. Football stars Mitch Price (injured) and Kermit Tracy will not see action today, unless the latter enters in a relief pitching role.
