Nine To Play Techmen Here

Harvard hasn't had a ball game and Bob Ward hasn't pitched in ten days now, but, weather permitting, both of these things will happen this afternoon. The often-washed-out Crimson, with Ward on the mound, meets M.I.T. at 3:45 p.m. today on Soldiers Field.

Stuffy McInnis' nine carries a three-and-four record into the contest. Tech has won four and lost six this season, with all its competition outside the Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball League. Roy Merritt's Engineers have defeated Coast Guard, Northeastern, and Colby, split two games with Tufts, and lost to Wesleyan, Providence, Bowdoin, American International, and Boston College.

Merritt is starting his top right-hander, Amos Dixon, so lefty Ralph Robinson will be in right field for the Crimson.

M.I.T.'s leading sluggers in a losing cause have been Captain Gene Lubarsky batting in the seventh position, and cleanup batter Pete Philou, both right-handed. The only strong left-hander in the Tech batting order is center fielder Mike Johnson.

Ward's record is two-and-two. The Crimson ace topped Army easily, shut out B.U., was routed by Amherst, and dropped a two-hit game to Holy Cross.
