Bunnies Capture Softball Laurels

Leverett, undefeated this season, gained official title to the House softball crown by downing Lowell, 13 to 7, yesterday on Soldiers Field.

John Hook pitched the Bunnies to victory for the entire nine innings, while a homer with two on by Neil Shulman got Leverett off to an early start.

For Lowell, Dick Povill added to his already high batting average with a triple, but despite a last minute rally, the Bellboys were unable to cover Leverett's big lead.

Lowell also lost out on the river yesterday, as Kirkland's crow edged them out in the final preliminaries. Tomorrow, the four-crew finals will be rowed in the Charles basin along a mile course. Starting time is 5 p.m.

The top three crews in points are Eliot, Winthrop, and Dunster. Although Lowell was in fourth place by points, Kirkland had a faster time record, so the two raced to decide which should be included in the finals.

Eliot is undefeated, and has previously beaten its three opponents.

Second boat final races were held yesterday, with Eliot beating Kirkland by three lengths in 4:34 over the three-quarter mile course. Lowell finished last by several lengths.

The championship Eliot House second boat: bow, Tom Smith; 2, Norris Darrell; 3, Jim Storey; 4, Sumner White; 5, Ozzie Wood; 6, John Davis; 7, Dick Murphy; stroke, Dick Storey; cox, Bill Crocker.
