Smith Picked First Choice By NY Knicks

Ed Smith, captain and high scorer on last year's varsity basketball team, was a first choice of the New York Knickerbockers in the annual National basketball Association player draft.

Smith toured with the College All-stars in a barnstorming trip with the Harlem Globetrotters, and outscored Goose Tatum several times getting 22 points in one game. He was also named to the New England All American basketball team.

John Azary, captain of the Columbia five and high scorer of the Eastern Intercollegiate League title-winning Lions, was a first choice of the Boston Coltics. Guard Ernie Barrett of Kansas State, who toured with Smith against the Globetrotters, was another Coltics first choice
