An M.I.T. student from New Jersey driving alone Memorial Drive hit and killed an unidentified man estimated by police to have been about 27 years of age. The accident occurred at the intersection of DeWolfe Street and Memorial Drive, between Dunster and Leverett Houses.

Witnesses to the accident said the car had struck the pedestrian in the head with a headlight, spun him, and dragged him a few feet. The spectators complained it took ten minutes for the police to arrive. The victim died on the way to Mount Auburn Hospital.

The Teach student was being held last night for hearing this morning on a charge of "operating to endanger."
