Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
The varsity lacrosse team played an erratic game Wednesday afternoon at Medford, but showed enough flashes of power to trounce an inexperienced, though rough Tufts ten, 14 to 4. Coach Bruce Munro's squad will paly its first intercollegiate home game this afternoon against another weak club, Middlebury. Starting time is 3:45 p.m. on the New Playing Field.
Hampered by an understandable lack of drive and harassed by a ragging Tufts defense, the Crimson alternately sputtered and sprinted to victory. The attack failed to capitalize on several extra man plays; the midfields failed to spread the Jumbo defense and frequently threw the ball away; and the defense held down the Jumbo scoring, but it too displayed some sloppy stickwork.
The game had its brighter moments, Creaseman Ned Yost at times played top-notch ball, particularly in the first periods when he assisted on the first Harvard score, then made the next four Crimson goals. Sophomore first midfielder Ron Huebsch also had a good day, turning the hat-trick for the second time this season.
Hudner and Yost Tie
Captain Rick Hudner, key man in the Crimson offense, had occasional lapses in his stickhandling, but the crack attackman still scored two goals and made three assists to tie Yost for total points. Some of the reserves also looked good in spots, especially sophomore attackman Bitsy Grant.
The Jumbos' Bob Gerbis opened up the scoring before the teams had even settled down, but one minute later first midfielder Dave Waring tied it up for the Crimson. The combination of Yost and Hudner then took charge for the winners, making three more first period goals. Harvard added four more goals in the second period, but only Huebsch and Hudner hit the nets in the third quarter.
Tufts' most polished player, Pete Ross, sank two quickies against the Crimson reserves in the fourth period. The Jumbos paid dearly for this sudden burst of talent when Harvard racked up four goals in the last ten minutes.
First period: Gerbis (T), 0:32; Waring (Yost) 1:23; Yost (Hudner), 2:10; Yost (Hudner), 12:48; Yost (Hudner), 14:45.
Second period: Yost (Plissner), 1:54; Thayer (Julian), 6:14; Huebsch (Post), 13:12; Hudner, 14:44.
Third period: Gerbis (Davis) (T), 5:48; Huebsch, 6:28; Hudner (Plissner), 8:45.
Fourth period: Ross (T), 0:32; Ross (T), 1:35; Kelly (Julian), 2:25; Grant (Baldwin), 5:15; Waring, 5:23; Huebsch, 10:48.
