Masters Veto ORC House Recruiting

The Committee on Houses this week turned down a request by a unit of the Army Organized Reserve Corps to place representatives in the common rooms at dinner time to answer questions for prospective enlistees. The unit was the 356th Field Artillery Battalion of the 94th Division.

Associate Dean Watson, secretary to the House Committee, explained that the Housemasters did not wish to allow recruiting to extend into dormitories and dining halls. In addition, they did not want to extend such permission to one particular reserve group to the exclusion of others which might make similar requests later.

Watson emphasized, however, that the College is still perfectly willing to give any reserve group the use of lecture halls and classrooms at night for purposes of interesting students.
