'Cliffe Raises Room Rents, Adjusts Assignment Rules

Radcliffe will raise room rents and use a revised method of deciding room priority, Annex authorities announced yesterday.

The cost of a single dormitory room will be increased $40, and "economy doubles," awarded on the basis of financial need, will be raised $20. In addition, a higher rate of $325 per year was set for the six large double rooms in Moors Hall and the ten suites in Bertram Hall.

President Jordan said the new rates were necessary because of "sharply increased costs which will result in a substantial deficit this year in the operation of the dormitories and dining halls." He added that the administration plans no rise in board at present.

According to the new system of assigning rooms, groups of not more than six girls who wish to room near each other next year must register by Monday, March 19. The following week, when they draw numbers, priority will be given to the highest number in the group, rather than to the lowest number, as in previous years.
