Bunche Sees Buck, Remains Unsure About Teaching Here

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Ralph Bunche, professor of Government, told the CRIMSON last night that he spoke to Provost Buck on Saturday, but would not disclose whether the pressure of United Nations duties will prevent him from taking up his position here next fall.

He did say, however, that he did not know how it would be taken if he were to give up his U.N. duties to come to Harvard, while Harvard men were being taken out of college to fight for the U.N.

Though Bunche's appointment was approved by the Corporation in January, 1950, and voted by the Overseers in April, it was not announced until October. Bunche requested that the appointment be kept secret, since he feared it would interfere with his U.N. work if people knew that he had accepted another post.

Bunche is scheduled to give courses in the field of international relations if he over comes here, and to assume the chair vacated by Payson S. Wild, Jr. two years ago."

Bunche was a professor at Howard University before he entered government service.

Last night Bunche spoke to a group of Radcliffe students in Cabot Hall. His daughter, Jean Bunche '54, lives in Cabot.
