College employees throughout the Boston area are opposing their present unions and seeking A.F.L. support, Federation secretary Edwin T. Sullivan said last night. "Since the organization meeting we held here two weeks and we've received 25 to 30 calls a day from other college employees," he added.
"Things have been popping all over Sullivan continued. "We're so busy that we had to let our Harvard drive slow up a bit. But we're not done here. We'll get them yet."
Emphasizing that the maids were an "incidental group" because they lacked the organization of the men workers. Sullivan contended that many employees were afraid to voice approval of the A.F.L. for fear of losing jobs.
"We're not worried," Sullivan concluded. "We can get the maids whenever we want them. They'll come around as soon as the rest do."
