New Musical Recordings Offered By 'Drumbeats,' Choir, Orchestra

Three music groups here are offering selections of their works on phonograph records. The cast of Radcliffe's "Drumbeats" will record five songs Monday, the choir has recorded a selection of sacred music, and the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra made a disc of its performances of Shostakovitch's Fifth Symphony.

"My Radcliffe Girl," "Bluestocking Blues," and "I Know What Little Girls Are Made Of" are among the "Drumbeats" numbers which will go on Ace Company wax. Robert Ashenhurst '51, who wrote the words and music, will provide a piano accompaniment.

Proceeds from the sale of records will go to Radcliffe's Grant-in-Aid fund. Orders will be taken before spring vacation. "Drumbeats" may also publish sheet music.

The choir's record of 15th and 16th century music, some of which has been sung in Memorial Chapel, will be available soon. The ten-inch long-playing record made by Variety Records will feature works by the 15th century composer Dufay; which have never before been recorded. William F. Russel 6G, assistant conductor of the Glee Club, led the choir.

Records of the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra playing Shostakovitch's Fifth are now available. The recording was made at the Orchestra's December concert.
