"Management's primary qualification in a potential executive is what some people call character, others reliability or dependability," said Lawrence A. Appley, American Management Association president, at last night's job forum in the Eliot House dining hall.

Representing big business, Appley stated management's top problem today is executive development. He cited present recruiting procedure, job rotation, and management training as examples of management's answer.

Alexander T. Daignault, representing small and medium-sized business, discussed the importance of flexibility in the young executive. Don't choose some particular field such as sales, and refuse to try production or marketing. He advised the young graduate to choose a large business. The impersonalism found in them is a "good shower bath."
