Dick Ford of Eliot House edged out Kirkland's Sam Timmins in yesterday's House epee fencing finals. Ford had previously shut out John Hamel of Kirkland in the semi-finals, while Timmins came from behind to defeat Winthrop's Bob Aronson in the other semi-final match.
Dave Lanier of Thayer South won the freshman dormitory competition with a decisive 3 to 1 decision over Stoughton's John Chappell. Frank Rhuland of Holworthy and Art Tower of Thayer South were the other freshmen to reach the semi-finals.
Kirkland came out on top of the threeday competition, followed by Eliot, Dunster, and Adams in that order. The other Houses failed to score.
The House swimming championship is still undecided. Adams' protest over Kirkland's 25 to 23 victory last Tuesday had been upheld, thus forcing a new meet.
The House volley-ball league is now in full swing; all eight Houses had matches yesterday. Eliot edged Leverett, 2 to 1, while Dunster, Kirkland, and Adams each shut out Lowell, Dudley, and Winthrop, 2 to 0.
In the standings at present, Adams and Dunster are both undefeated in three games, while Kirkland has won both its games. Eliot has won two of its three contests, and Winthrop one out of three. The other three Houses have yet to win.
