Johnny Lee, sophomore captain-elect of the varsity wrestling team, successfully defended his New England A.A.U. 121-pound championship at Quincy Saturday night and decided to compete in the national collegiate tournament this weekened at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.
Harvard gained the highest team total in the Quincy competition as Dave Smith topped teammates Dave Shapiro in the 135-pound class, freshman captain Chick Chandler placed second at 165, and George Bates--another freshman--took the 191-pound title. Chandler lost to Mare Rowe, of Brown, in the finals.
Other Crimson entries included Frank DeWar, John Ray, Joe Hubbard, and Jerry Blitz.
