'Cliffe Seeks For $225,000 For New Hall

Radcliffe will seek $225,000 to finish its newest dormitory, Daniel Henry Holmes Hall, President Jordan announced last night. The drive will start this fall.

Most of the money for the new building will come from the bequest of the late Georgine Holmes Thomas. The total cost will be $750,000. The Hall will be named is honor of Mrs. Thomas' father, a leading merchant of Cincinnati and New York.

The Radcliffe Administrative Council has voted to begin the building at the "earliest possible date." It will join Moors Hall and face Garden Street. Built entirely of "planned" double rooms, Holmes will house 102 students and will serve as a center of student musical activities.

Largest Living Room

Holmes Hall will have the largest living room of the Radcliffe dormitories, with a platform to accommodate concerts and dances.

With the construction of the new Hall, 80 percent of the student body can live on campus. The building committee plans then to construct one more dormitory on the other side of Moors. This will complete the long-range construction program, begun in 1936 with Cabot Hall.
