John Mote Stevenson '52 of Glendale, Ohio, and Lowell House was yesterday elected captain of the varsity basketball team for the 1951-52 season. He succeeds Edward Bernard Smith '51.
Stevenson played forward on this year's quintet, starting all but four games. Six foot, three inches tall, he scored most often on a twisting jump shot, making 19 points in the last Yale game. He did not win a letter last year as a sophomore.
Stevenson's draft status is uncertain. He has taken his physical but has received no definite word about classification. His pre-medical status may keep him deferred through his senior year.
Paul W. Bodden '52 of Northampton and Kirkland House will succeed Robert W. Balderson '51 as manager of the varsity quintet. The winner of this year's sophomore managerial competition will be announced later this week.
