Funeral services for Harold Hitchings Burbank, David A. Wells Professor of Political Economy, will be held at 3 p.m. this afternoon at the Memorial Church. Burbank died Tuesday night.
Burbank taught Economics here for 38 years and was chairman of that department for 18 years. His special field was finance. He had been one of the leading figures in the development of the tutorial system. When this method was established early in the administration of President Lowell, Burbank assisted in introducing it experimentally to the Department of History, Government, and Economics. He later was appointed chairman of the board of tutors in this division and served from 1916 to 1946.
He administered several large introductory courses in the department of Economics and was a graduate of Dartmouth.
