Swimming Squad Meets Navy Today In League Contest

Fresh from a trouncing of Springfield College Wednesday, the varsity swimmers will take on Navy at 4:30 p.m. today in the Indoor Athletic Building. The Middies should be a worn-out team by then after losing to Dartmouth yesterday, 45 to 30.

Navy only took three events in the Dartmouth meet: the 440-yard freestyle, the 200-yard backstroke, and the 440-yard freestyle relay. The only one of their times better than the Crimson's in its last meet was the 440-yard freestyle, which Vandersluys won in 5:05. In the backstroke event, Boyd Johnson set a Dartmouth pool record of 2:19.1, but John Steinhart can top this with his own pool record of 2:16.3 at Springfield.

The varsity can go into a three-way tie for first place with Yale and Dartmouth in the Eastern Intercollegiate League by winning today's meet. The Elis and the Green each have four wins and no losses.

Ulen's men have not yet competed with Dartmouth or Yale.

The freshmen will swim against St. George's Academy at 10:30 a.m. in the Indoor Athletic Building.
