The scores took a holiday in intra-House basketball yesterday: only one team topped 40 points in the seven games. In the 'A' league, Leverett just made it over the wire to beat Dunster, 41 to 32.
In the rest of the 'A' games, Kirkland whipped Winthrop, 40 to 28--the only other high-scoring game. Lowell topped Adams, 29 to 18, and Eliot beat Dudley, 25 to 20. Three 'B' games were played with Leverett trimming Dunster, 30 to 23, and Eliot edging Kirkland, 22 to 20. In the final game, Adams revenged its 'A' loss to Lowell by taking a tight game, 20 to 19.
Dick Myers was high scorer of the day with 14 points for the Bunnies, who pulled away at the end of a tight game. In the Kirkland-Winthrop game, Dike Otherwise, either the defense assumed command, or several players shared the low scoring.
Eliot upset Kirkland's 'B' league leaders with the help of Hank Church's ten points, while Rod MacDougall scored the winning basket in Adams' close squeeze over Lowell. In the third game, Leverett upped its one-point margin at the half to beat Dunster going away.
In Yard basketball last night, Matthews North edged Massachusetts, 26 to 24; Straus South beat Hollis, 15 to 14; Thayer South whipped Mower, 22 to 16; and Matthews South trimmed Thayer, 30 to 18, all in the National League.
In the American League, Lionel topped Weld South, 27 to 13; Thayer North out-scored Weld North, 38 to 29; Stoughton trounced Straus North, 27 to 9; and Wigglesworth West slipped past Wigglesworth East.
