Lowenstein Passes Draft Physical

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Carroll Lowenstein, captain-elect of the 1951 football team, could not be reached last night for confirmation of a report that he had enlisted in the Army, but his mother said that he had not.

Another story claimed that Lowenstein had taken--and passed--his Selective Service physical. Present draft regulations covering men in college have not yet clarified students' status beyond the present academic year. Lowenstein is 21 years old and is not in the upper half of his class.

The last football captain to be drafted before the season began was Cleo O'Donnell, who was elected in 1942 and served as captain upon returning from the service in 1946.
