Coach Welland Hits Referecing In Wednesday's Hockey Game

Crimson hockey coach Cooney Welland was definitely not amused by the mix-up which cost Harvard two simultaneous "extra man on ice" penalties in the 5 to 0 loss to Boston College Wednesday.

"There's room for improvement among college hockey referees," he said after the game. "Let's have some new talent."

Referee Bill Cleary called the penalties in the third period, first because the Crimson was playing with six men when it should have had five; then immediately after for playing five instead of four.
