Saint Mark's fighting hockey team put up a game battle against the freshmen at the Arena yesterday, but the Yardlings had too much class, and eventually won easily, 15 to 1.
Although the puck was in Saint Mark's ice for most of the first period, the prep schoolers, behind the spectacular goaltending of Marty Fenton, held the Crimson at bay until 11:40, when Ned Almy caged the rubber from a scramble in front of the goal.
Center Doug Manchester scored the first of his four goals shortly thereafter--he also tallied an assist--and the Yardlings were on their way; only the final buzzer (at the end of a shortened last period) could stop them.
Speedy little Bob Marsolais netted three goals for the Yardlings. Fred Church and Ned Bliss got two each; defenseman Ed Mrkonich assisted on three scores.
Fenton, with 53 saves, 21 in the hectic first period, starred for the Saint Markers. Center John Hamlen got their only goal, on a pretty breakaway shot, at 16:00 of the second period.
