Rugby Team Takes On Rugged McGill Squad

McGill ruggers' captain Ay Ramsay will pit what he terms his college's "best team for three years" against the Crimson this afternoon. The game is at 2:30 p.m. on the House Football grounds. The Canadian squad has won all its games this season, beating Toronto, M.I.T., and Westmount Club of Montreal.

Ramsay says his backs are light, but fast, like Bill King, who in track competition last year sprinted 100 yards in 9.8 seconds. The scrum is light too, but well drilled.

The McGill captain said ruggers at his college were now nearly all Canadian trained, whereas a year earlier, most had come from Britain and Australia. The new type of player lacked experience, but more than made up for it in keenness.

Against the Montreal visitors, the Crimson with match what Coach Calhoun calls, "a heavy squad, but one still needing experience." It will include Scotsman Gordon Hutchinson as fullback, and John Doelling, who will substitute for Sam Butler, as a three-quarterback. Freshmen Dave Wells and Jack Macrae will be playing their first game.

Meanwhile, the ruggers have just announced they have accepted an invitation to play Yale in the Yale Bowl on December 1.
