Council Discusses Athletics, Ways of Cutting HAA Deficit

Increasing student athletic participation and spectatorship while reducing the average cost were the major topics debated at last night's Student Council meeting. A committee of Richard E. Johnson '53 and Vincent P. McCarthy '52 offered four possibilities.

The four suggestions were: maintenance of the status quo whereby participation tickets cost $20 and spectator coupon books $21; free use of facilities, whereby the cost would be distributed among all undergraduates; having a participation fee compulsory; while leaving spectatorship voluntary; and partially curtailing the use of H.A.A. facilities.
