Placement Office to Institute Series Of Career-Choice Talks in Houses

A new series of career "chats" in individual Houses will lead off the fall activities schedule of the Student Placement Office. The talks are supposed to stimulate undergraduates to plan now for jobs after completing College.

With the cooperation of the House-masters and the House committees, the placement office has arranged for two speakers to talk informally with about 25 members of each House at a time on any post-college plans which the students have.

As tentatively scheduled now, the first "After College--What?" discussion will be held in Leverett House some time in the next three weeks. It is planned to keep the groups small so that a more informal atmosphere will prevail.

Students interested in attending the discussions will be able to sign a list posted in the Houses. They will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis with no priority for seniors. The meetings will last about an hour.

The discussion-leaders will be Alexander Clark, assistant director of the Office of Student Placement, and Louis L. Newbury, Jr., placement officer, and the head of the new program.

The purpose of the talks and the whole placement program is to interest the students in coming to talk with these men privately, and to foster individual thinking on specific job opportunities. The Weld Hall office includes a special reading room, where students can study catalogues listing opportunities both by location and by type.
