GI Checks Should Reach Veterans 'Soon' as VA Overcomes Slow-Down

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

GI Bill payments for University veterans should be out "soon," General William J. Blake '13, regional manager of the Boston Veterans Administration, said yesterday.

Earlier this month, the Veterans Administration announced that checks would not be out until late January. At the time, some of the University's 1,280 veterans claimed that such a delay would force them to withdraw from college because they would be unable to keep up with monthly expenditures during the fall.

But at the present work rate, Blake believes that applications will be processed by the end of November. "This is about a week earlier than usual," he concluded.
