Clasby Returns to Practice

Tailback Dick Clasby scrimmaged for the first time in two weeks, but John Culver was sidelined once again with bruises as the Crimson bore down in preparation for Saturday's game with Dartmouth.

Coach Lloyd Jordan admitted after the practice that he thought Tuss McLaughry's Indian squad would be a considerably tougher opponent than West Point was last Saturday.

Jordan would not comment on the center situation. Last Saturday Bainy Frothingham carried most of the load with Buddy Lemay seeing some action, and Red Lewis was used very little. Frothingham, however, was slightly injured in the Army game, and Lemay centered the first line yesterday.

"No one on the team can be completely sure of his position," the coach said.

Screen Pass Dangerous

Jordan warned that a screen pass--used very effectively by the Indians in past weeks--can be one of the most difficult of all plays to stop. Consequently, a large part of yesterday's practice was made up of pass defense scrimmage, with backfield work stressed. Lemay and Tom Ossman were linebackers. Dusty Burke and John Tulenko were halfbacks, and Bill Healey was safety man. Later, a second group was made up of Lewis, Ossman, Bill Weber, Brian Reynolds, and Dick Duback.

With Culver bruised, Ossman, Bob Ray, and Soupy Campbell ran as fullbacks.
