Radcliffe May Produce '55 Register This Fall

The Radcliffe Yearbook, in conjunction with Harvard Yearbook Publications, will put out an Annex freshman register this fall, similar to the "date-books" published at Wellesley and Smith. The move pends backing from the class of '55 and final approval of the 'Cliffe student council.

Considered at last September's Cedar Hill Conference, chances for the register looked slight when a recommendation was made to appoint an investigating committee and sheive further discussion until February.

Under the present plan, however, it would be possible to have the register out and ready for sales by December 15. Similar to the Harvard Freshman register in binding and lay-out, it will be the first of its kind over to be put out at the 'Cliffe, and will be available at most men's eastern colleges as well as at the Annex.

Various organizations, including the CRIMSON, made bids for the idea and production of such a register as long as three years ago, but were told at the time that such a publication would have to be handled only by Radcliffe.

Rachel Mellinger '52, editor-in-chief of the 'Cliffe Yearbook, explained at yester- day's council meeting that due to the necessary rush in putting out a register this year, the only possibility lay in co-operation with Harvard Yearbook Publications. She expressed the hope that in the future the book would be put out entirely by the Radcliffe Yearbook staff, however.

Final decision of the fate of the register lies in the vote to be taken at next week's council meeting. A straw vote taken on the issue at yesterday's meeting revealed almost unanimous approval
