Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty

Captain Ready Made Local Police Chief

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Captain of Detectives Patrick F. Ready was yesterday appointed Chief of Cambridge Police by City Manager John B. Atkinson.

Ready was the third man on a civil service list. He was appointed in preference to Captain Patrick F. McCarthy, who has been acting chief since the retirement last spring of Chief John R. King.

Atkinson said he selected Ready because of the manner in which he ran the detective bureau. "I consider the bureau the best in the state," he said. Atkinson said that "there was no political pressure put on for any of the candidates for the position. This appointment is no reflection on other candidates. I still consider them good men."
