The total draft call for November and December will be 55,900, the Department of Defense announced in Washington yesterday. Of this number, 19,900 will be assigned to the Marine Corps.

The November call will be 39,000--an increase of 5,300. Department of Defense officials said this is due to a "recent increase in the planned strength of the Marine Corps." Of this total, 29,000 will go to the Army and 10,000 to the Marine Corps.

17,000 in December

During December, 16,900 men will be called in. Of this number, 9,900 will be assigned to the Marine Corps, and 7,000 to the Army. The Marine Corps increase is designed to bring to full strength two combat divisions. The Marine combat division consists of 22,000 men.

Mrs. Anna B. Rosenberg, Assistant Secretary of Defense, said the December draft call would permit the suspension of all inductions during the holidays.

The Marines also announced that they would accept 1,000 college students for commissions as second lieutenants.
