Football forecasters are taking a closer look at the Yale squad, after last Saturday's game with Navy. The heavily favored Midshipmen had to fight to tie the game at 7 to 7 in the last period. Last spring, forecasters had predicted a greatly weakened Blue team, and promised an almost even Crimson-Yale contest. Now they're not so sure.
Princeton, meanwhile, rode over New York University, 54 to 20, mainly through 'he prowess of All-American halfback Dick Kazmaier. Although Kazmaier is the only defensive back remaining of the Orange and Black 1950 Ivy League championship team, the new team looks as if it's out to match last year's record.
In the same afternoon, another future Crimson contender, Cornell, showed its strength in downing Syracuse, 21 to 14. Stu Merz, a fast back who covered a total of 178 yards for the Big Red, accounted for all three of its touchdowns.
One hopeful note in the Crimson's future was Army's 21 to 7 defeat at the hands of Villanova. The remolded Cadet eleven was far too inexperienced to match the Wildcats' fast play.
