Injuries Take 3 From Penn Game Tonight

Injuries once again rose up to swat the varsity basketball team down just before an important game. When the Crimson meets Pennsylvania at 8:30 tonight at the Blockhouse, Jim Urdan, Amble Redmond, Alden Davis, and possibly Bob Bramhall will be unable to play. Both Urdan and Bramhall have started several times this year.

Coach Norm Shepard's starting lineup will not be affected by the loss of these men. He plans to open with the same team that almost defeated Princeton: Captain Ed Smith and Jim Gabler at forward, Bill Hickey and Gerry Murphy at guard, and Dick Lionette at center.

Pennsylvania will scamper out on the floor with a record of eight wins and three losses for the year, including two victories over Yale. However, Coach Howie Dallmar's squad has yet to beat a strong team.

Lack of a big man makes Penn depend on speed and hustle to keep possession of the ball; small, quick-moving teams give the Crimson the most trouble. Sophomore Ernest Beck is the tallest man on the visiting squad at six foot three. He will oppose Lionette, who is two inches taller, at center.

Don Scanlon and Dick Dougherty are the Penn guards. Scanlon is six two, Dougherty five nine. At forward will be five eleven Hugh Jeffries and six one Tom Davies. They will work a weaving offense around Beck, and use a man-to-man defense.

Two substitutes who will play a great deal are Bob Brooks and Tom Holt. Holt is five foot eight, while Brooks is two inches taller.

There is no freshman game, but undefeated Leverett plays Winthrop at 6:45 p.m. in the preliminary "A" game.
