Colleges Prepare For Large Draft

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Dartmouth College expects between 625 and 1,000 of its 2,500 students to be drafted this year, an official of the college announced yesterday. Nine of the younger members of the Dartmouth faculty have been notified that their services will not be needed after this June.

Other New England colleges are also considering similar moves. President Leonard Carmichael of Tufts College announced that Tufts is seriously studying the problem. But Charles W. Cole, president of Amherst, said that no sound estimate of next year's enrollments can be made until Congress acts on a new draft law.

Dartmouth also said that another four and possibly more instructors will be dismissed after the 1951-52 academic year.
