Eliot Bridge Ready at Last

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Neckers who once parked on the banks of the Charles near Stillman Infirmary will now have to seek another spot. The $732,000 Eliot Bridge and traffic rotary under construction since last spring, opened for business Tuesday.

Dedication for the bridge was scheduled for yesterday, but was postponed because of rain. Workmen put up the sign pictured above to discourage motorists from using the byway until it was officially opened.

Munroe-Langsworth Co., contractors for the structure, planned to have it completed last October, but the bridge's foundations kept sinking into the mud, thus delaying construction.
